Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to data portability. This means you can request and receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format from any service provider, including Canny.

If you're a customer of Canny, you can request a full export of your data, which can then be imported into Produktly.

How to Export Your Data from Canny

  1. 1Canny's REST API is the most complete way to get your data out: it returns posts, votes with voter details, comments, users and changelog entries
  2. 2In Canny, open your company settings and go to the API section
  3. 3Copy your secret API key
  4. 4Send it to us through the in-app chat or [email protected], and tell us which boards and changelog you want moved
  5. 5Once the import is done, delete the key in Canny so it stops working
  6. 6Prefer not to share a key? Ask Canny support for a full export of your data and send us the files instead

How to Migrate to Produktly

    We import each Canny status as a roadmap section, and posts without a status as feature requests

    Vote counts and comments (with author and date) come across with every post, and your changelog entries become Produktly changelog posts with their images

How does Canny's pricing compare to Produktly's?

Canny's plans scale with tracked users, meaning any user associated with feedback. Its Pro plan starts at $79 per month billed yearly for 100+ tracked users. Produktly plans are flat: €19, €59 or €199 per month, with no metering by tracked users, so a busy feedback board does not raise your bill.

What does the migration cost?

Nothing. We do the import for you as part of your trial or subscription.

Will my votes transfer?

Vote counts transfer for every post. Canny's API also returns who voted, so we keep each post's voter list with the item. If your Canny users were identified with your own user IDs and you use the same IDs with Produktly, we can recreate votes per person, so returning users see their own votes.

What happens to my Canny changelog?

Your changelog entries become native Produktly changelog posts, with images moved over to our storage. You edit them in the same dashboard as your roadmap.

Do comments carry over?

Yes, with the original author name and date.

Can my roadmap and changelog use my own domain?

Yes. Public roadmaps and changelogs can run on your own domain, just like on Canny.

What else do I get that Canny does not have?
